Preces Quotidianae
Thanksgiving for All Means of Grace
The believer gives thanks for every instrument of grace—writings, sermons, conversations, prayers, examples, reproofs, even injuries—and for all persons, known and unknown, remembered and forgotten.
As for all writings, sermons, and conversations,1 who for me by prayers, examples, and reproof,2 by injuries—they did me good; for all these,3 and for all others, known and unknown, open or hidden, those we remember and those we forget,4
A Vow of Perpetual Praise
The believer confesses, blesses, and gives thanks to God now and vows to continue doing so all the days of life.
I confess to You and will keep confessing; I bless You and will keep blessing; I thank You and will keep thanking You, all my days.5 of my life,✦6

Scripture echoes
- ↩Ps.23.6 — Surely goodness and mercy shall pursue me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for length of days.
Notes
- 1 ↩Scriptis may mean sacred Scripture or writings more generally; rendered as 'writings' to keep parallel with sermons and conversations. Source line is an open list fragment (trailing parenthesis/comma).
- 2 ↩Source has an unexplained bracket mark after mihi (']'); treated as non-lexical editorial noise. This unit is a mid-list relative fragment: Qui mihi + ablatives of means, completed by profuerunt in the next section.
- 3 ↩Injuriis continues the ablative list of means by which others helped the speaker (prayers, examples, rebuke); profuerunt is taken as a parenthetical verdict that those injuries were spiritually profitable to him, not as a separate list item.
- 4 ↩Source has stray '4' before occultis and a lone 'J' before obliviscimur; treated as OCR/editorial noise. Intended reading taken as: cognitis, incognitis, manifestis, vel occultis, qui recordamur, [et] obliviscimur.
- 5 ↩Source line is corrupt after Gratias: «kd P {» is unreadable. Rendered on the parallel present/future pattern already clear in confiteor/confitebor and benedico/benedicam, as gratias ago et gratias agam (I give thanks and will give thanks). Neighboring next section «Vitæ meæ» strongly supports completing omnibus diebus as ‘all the days [of my life].’
- 6 ↩Source 'Vitz:e mex,' is almost certainly corrupt OCR for 'vitæ meæ' (of my life), continuing the prior clause 'Omnibus diebus' ('all the days').
