A Call to Intercession
The congregation is invited to pray for the soul of the departed who has been released from the trials of this world.
Beloved brothers, let us pray for the soul of this poor man, whom the Lord has freed today from the prison of this false world,1 whose body we bury today.
The Hope of Eternal Rest
A petition for the deceased to be gathered with the patriarchs and granted a place among the elect at the final judgment.
May the Lord, in his mercy, place him with Abraham,2 Isaac, and Jacob, in their embrace.3 May he set him on his right side among the good on the day of judgment, when he comes with all his saints and elect, and save him.4
The Communion of Saints
