The Path of Purification and Knowledge
Spiritual progress involves the dual work of diminishing the passions through practice and overcoming ignorance through contemplation.
Someone advancing in the practical life reduces their passions, while one advancing in contemplation reduces their ignorance. And although the passions will eventually be destroyed altogether, they say that some kinds of ignorance have an end and others do not.
