VISIO DECIMA, cap. XXIV

The Northern Wind and the Defense of the Faithful

God sends a mighty northern wind to blind the invading pagans, grants signs like those given to Moses and Michael, and the faithful conquer by His power, praising Him for their victory.

Finally, when unbelieving and dreadful nations, as was said above, invade and seek to destroy and annihilate the resources and possessions of the churches on every side, like vultures and hawks they clutch with talons and claws what they have under their wings, and when the Christian people, tormented in every way by repentance for their sins and terrified by bodily death, have tried to resist with arms, a mighty wind from the north, coming with a great cloud and thickest dust, will send its blasts against them by divine judgment, so that their throats are filled with cloud and their eyes with dust, and laying aside their fierceness, they are struck with the greatest astonishment. For holy Divinity will then grant signs and wonders among the Christian people, just as it also did with Moses in the pillar of cloud, and just as Michael the archangel fought for the defense of Christians against the pagans, so that the faithful children of God, going forth under God's protection against their enemies, rush upon them and become conquerors over them by God's power, handing some over to death and driving others out of their own borders. Therefore a very great multitude of pagans will then be added to the Christians in true faith, saying to them, 'The God of the Christians is the true God, who has done such signs among them.' But those conquerors whom God will hold in his defense will praise God, saying, 'Let us praise the Lord our God; for he has truly shown his greatness in us, because in his name we have become conquerors.' And so our strength is also his praise, because through him we have overcome both his enemies and our own, since we have faithfully believed in him.

A Call to Hear the Gospel and Rebuild

The faithful turn to the Gospel, acknowledge the chastisement of persecution, and resolve to rebuild destroyed towns with all their strength.

And again they will say, 'Let us also attend to the Lord's words in the Gospel.' A nation of pagans will rise up against the nation of Christians, just as it has been done to us. Therefore let us rebuild the cities and towns adjacent to us that have been destroyed, and make them stronger and more fortified than they were before, so that we are not ground down by such evils from now on, as we now are, crushed down. And they'll do this with all their strength and every resource they have, bravely and generously. »

The Diminishing of Empire and Apostolic See

In those days Roman imperial strength will wane and even the apostolic see will be divided as new hierarchies arise.

Because in those days, as the Roman emperors fall away from their former strength, the empire in their hands will gradually diminish and fail, and even the see of apostolic honor will be divided, and other masters or archbishops will be set over others in various places.
