VISIO SECUNDA, cap. XLIII

Stars of Repentance and Discernment

The vision of stars flashing across the ether and bright air reveals how true repentance and holy discernment shine with manifold splendor, making the faithful reasonable before God.

What you see, moreover, is this: the circle of pure ether, and likewise the circle of strong, white, and bright air, are as if filled with stars, which send their own flashes toward the clouds set opposite them. This means that the integrity of true repentance, and the integrity of discernment in the holy works of the saints, flourish in the manifold splendor of reason, because just as stars are diverse and many, so too repentance and the discernment of holy works display within themselves the greatest possible powers of blessedness, and with their own splendors they make the minds of the faithful reasonable, since they pour into them so that all the works they do may appear reasonable before God.

The Four Winds as Tongues of Usefulness

The mystical account of the four winds moving like tongues on either side of the image is presented as a further contemplative sign.

Likewise, the mystical account of the usefulness of the four winds, on the right or the left side of the image, moving themselves like tongues.
