VISIO SECUNDA, cap. XI

The Sun's Path and the Seat of the Deceiver

A celestial line traces the sun's course from east to west, deliberately avoiding the northern region where the ancient deceiver dwells, as God withheld the sun's light from that place.

And as if from the beginning of the eastern part of the same wheel, as though toward the end of its western part, a line in the firmament stretches toward its northern part, distinguishing the northern region from the others — because from the first rising of the east (that is, where the sun first rises), when days begin to lengthen, all the way to the farthest setting of the west (that is, where the sun goes no further), the line, which is the path of the sun, avoiding the northern region, turns back; for the sun does not plunge itself into those same regions but holds them as though in neglect, where the ancient deceiver chose his dwelling seat, and from which God also deprived those regions of the sun's access.

The Faithful Soul's Separation from Iniquity

Just as the sun avoids the northern darkness, the faithful person sets justice against iniquity and separates diabolical arts from holy works, striving to avoid what harms the soul.

So also, from the beginning of good works existing in the power of God to their good consummation, the faithful person sets uprightness of justice against iniquity, separating diabolical arts from good and holy works — because whoever wishes to cling faithfully to God will strive to avoid the things that harm their soul, so that they may hear what is written.

A Testimony from the Apocalypse

A testimony from the Apocalypse is introduced to express the same point and to show how it ought to be understood.

A testimony drawn from the Apocalypse, and how it ought to be understood in order to express the same point.
