VISIO SECUNDA, cap. VI
The Watery Circle and the Fire of Grace
The vision reveals a dense watery circle beneath the fiery ether, whose waters signify holy works cleansed and kindled by divine grace in the fire of the Holy Spirit.
But beneath that circle of pure ether, there is also another circle, like a circle of watery air, of such great density in its own roundness that the density of the aforementioned circle of shining fire is shown to be just as great — signifying that beneath the ether just mentioned, across the circuit of the firmament, those waters which are known to exist above the firmament are of the same density in their own circuit as the density of the aforementioned shining fire. And this watery air shows forth holy works in the examples of the just, which are like clear water, and which cleanse impure works just as water washes away every foul thing — of its own capacity existing in its perfection, insofar as divine grace kindles them in the fire of the Holy Spirit.
The Fifth Circle of Bright Air
The vision turns to a fifth circle of strong, white, bright air, raising questions about its usefulness, density, significance, and union with the circle above.
Concerning the circle of strong, white, and bright air—how much usefulness it holds in its fifth position, how great its density may be, what it too may signify, and why it is joined to the one above so that the two become as one.
