Enduring the Interior Storm

The author encourages the reader to remain steadfast during internal spiritual struggles without obsessing over their origins.

Save yourselves!✦ I wish you peace from the Lord. The storm inside you isn't some terrible disaster—it's almost the usual order of things. You have to stand firm. Keep doing everything just as you are, crying out to the Lord, to the Most Pure Lady, and to all the Saints.1 It will pass. Where does this come from? You won't figure it out—and there's no need to figure it out.

The Lord's Presence in Battle

The reader is reminded that spiritual trials are common to all believers and that God remains present, limiting the intensity of temptation.

Everyone who walks this path goes through that. What's certain is only this: the Lord doesn't abandon you, but is present right there, watching how the soul will fight in the battle He has permitted. He doesn't allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear. So stand firm. May the Lord give you peace!

Scripture echoes

  1. ↩Phil.2.12 — Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Notes

  1. 1 ↩Пречистой Владычице is the traditional Orthodox title for the Theotokos (Most Pure Mistress/Lady); rendered 'Most Pure Lady' to keep Marian specificity without archaism.
