The Nailing and the Mockery

Jesus is nailed to the cross between robbers and given gall to drink in his thirst.

At the sixth hour, Jesus is nailed to the cross, and he hangs there with robbers, reckoned as one of them. Thirsting before his torments, filled with gall, the Lamb washes away his crime, mocked in this way.

Adoration of the Cross

A brief doxology praising Christ for redeeming the world through the cross.

We adore you, Christ, and we bless you. Because through your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

Prayer for Mercy at the Hour of Death

A solemn oration placing Christ's passion between the soul and judgment, followed by a doxological close.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, place your suffering, cross, and death between your judgment and my soul, now and in the hour of my death, and deign to grant mercy and grace to the living, rest and pardon to the dead, peace and harmony to your holy church, and to us sinners life and everlasting joy. You who live and reign, God. Through all ages of ages. Amen.
