The Gift of Righteousness by Faith
Righteousness is received through faith in the promises of God, which assure us of His love and salvation.
XX. We believe that we are made to share in this righteousness by faith alone, as it is said that he suffered to obtain salvation for us, so that whoever believes in him will not perish.✦✦1 And this occurs because the promises of life given to us in him are applied to our use, and we experience their effect when we accept them, not doubting that, being assured by the mouth of God, we will not be disappointed.✦✦2 Thus, the righteousness we obtain through faith depends on the freely given promises through which God declares and testifies to us that he loves us.✦

XX.

Rule yourself daily, not just on retreat
Chosen Portion turns the mirror into a daily practice — a short reading and examining question each morning before you lead anyone.
Chosen Portion makes the mirror daily: the ruler-formation questions this collection preserves become a two-minute morning examination in the app.
- A daily formation reading drawn from centuries of counsel to those in authority
- One pointed examination question a day — two minutes, before the meetings start
- Track your practice over weeks and watch the examined life become a habit
