XIII.

Christ Our Only Refuge

Our salvation is found exclusively in Jesus Christ, who serves as our wisdom, sanctification, and redemption.

XIII. We believe that in this same Jesus Christ everything that was required for our salvation has been offered and imparted to us.¹ Who, having been given to us for salvation, has at the same time been made wisdom, sanctification, and redemption for us, so that by turning away from him we renounce the Father's mercy, in which we ought to take our only refuge.^✦²

XIII.

Scripture echoes

↩1Cor.1.30 — But from him you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom for us from God—both righteousness and sanctification and redemption.

Notes

1 ↩communiqué: not merely announced, but conveyed; rendered "imparted" so the pair offert / communiqué keeps both the holding-out and the actual giving of salvation.
2 ↩quant et quant: Middle French idiom, "at the same time / together therewith," not a simple additive "and."
