Chapter 16ChristineXVJoyes.1.16
Joye XV
Prayer for the Joy of the Assumption
The petitioner asks the Virgin, by the joy of her Assumption, to remove sin and instill devotion, concluding with 'Amen.'
Worthy Virgin, for the complete joy you had on the day of your Assumption, when you rose into heaven: take the root of sin from me and put devotion in me.1 Amen.
Read the original Middle French
Vierge digne, pour la joye enterine Que eus au jour de ton Assompcion Qu'en ciel montas, de pechié la racine Ostes de moy et mez devocion. Amen.
Notes
- 1 ↩Read as imperative mets ('put/set'): Ostes… et mez balances two petitions (remove… and put…). Less plausible as mes ('my').
