The Compassion of the Women
The faithful adore the Redeemer and contemplate the sorrow of the women who met Jesus on the way.
We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you, because by your holy Cross you have redeemed the world.✦ Consider how the women, seeing Jesus Christ so worn out and bleeding along the way, wept out of compassion; but Jesus said to them: Don't weep for me, but for your children.
A Prayer of True Contrition
The believer responds to the Lord's suffering with a prayer of repentance, love, and total surrender.
My sorrowful Jesus, I weep for the offenses I have committed against you and for the punishments I have deserved, but even more for the displeasure I have caused you, who have loved me so much.1 It is not so much hell as your love that makes me weep for my sins. I love you, my Jesus, more than myself; with all my heart I repent of having offended you. Forgive me, and don't let me separate myself from you. Grant that I may always love you, and then do with me as you please.

Ti adoriamo, o Cristo, e ti benediciamo, perché con la tua santa Croce hai redento il mondo.
Considera come le donne vedendo Gesù Cristo così affannato e che perdeva sangue lungo la via, piangevano per compassione; ma Gesù disse loro: Non piangete su di me, ma sui vostri figli. – Addolorato mio Gesù, io piango le offese che ti ho fatto, per le pene da me meritate, ma più per il disgusto che ho dato a te che tanto mi hai amato. Non tanto l’inferno quanto il tuo amore mi fa piangere i miei peccati.
Io ti amo, Gesù mio, più di me stesso, mi pento con tutto il cuore di averti offeso. Perdonami e non permettere che mi separi da te. Fa’ che sempre ti ami e poi disponi di me come ti piace.
