Pregueres d'amor: De saviea e d'amor
Love's Invocation
Love prays wisdom and will to carry it often between the Beloved and the Lover.
Love prayed wisdom and will to carry it often from the Beloved to the Lover, and from the Lover to the Beloved.
Prayers for Knowledge and Discernment
The lover prays for wisdom to know the Beloved's glory, to discern false love, and to recognize enemies of love.
ii. The lover prayed for wisdom and virtue to clothe his love, because he wanted to send it to his beloved.1 iii. The Friend asked the wisdom and true love of his Beloved to bind and seize the foolish and false love that keeps the world troubled through foolish and false lovers of sin. iv. The Lover was praying, and he begged wisdom to show him the glory of his Beloved, so that he could love it more firmly.2 v. "Wisdom of Love," said the Lover, "show me what my Beloved's glorifying consists of, so that I may know the duration of his glory."3 6. The Friend prayed to love's concordance to bring him into accord with his Beloved in loving.4 vii. The Friend adored and humbly prayed his Beloved to make known to him the enemies of his love, so that he would know how to unlove them.5
Prayers for Service and Union
The lover prays for wisdom to guide his service, to mediate between him and the Beloved, to understand the end of love, and to resist lesser loves.
8. "Wisdom," said the Lover, "you've shown me a good and great Beloved; show me how to begin the great services and honors I can do for my Beloved." 9. The Lover prayed Wisdom to place herself between him and his Beloved, since love will be set between them both. 10. The Lover prayed Wisdom that, whenever he loved, she would show him the end of love.6 xi. Wisdom, said the Lover: show me the greatest love, so that I may be a greater lover. 12. The Lover asked the Wisdom of love to show him how to balance love and loving, so that with all his love he could desire to honor and serve his Beloved, and endure all the labors of love.7 xiii. Wisdom, said the lover: when I'm tempted to love a lesser love more than a greater one, show me the nobility, loftiness, and riches of my Beloved, and the world's baseness, vanity, and error.89

Notes
- 1 ↩Catalan 'amar' is the act/faculty of loving (not the person 'amic' nor the abstract noun 'amor' alone); rendered as 'loving' to keep that distinction. 'vestissen' is the clothing/adornment metaphor for preparing that loving to be sent.
- 2 ↩Feminine object pronoun la most naturally refers to glòria (‘the glory’), not to the Beloved (amat, masculine). Rendered accordingly.
- 3 ↩Source 'dardat' is otherwise unattested; treated as a corrupt/OCR reading of 'durada' (Duration), one of Llull's love-roots (cf. 'duració' among the rails and the same correction at LlullArbreAmor.1.37.4). 'sa durada' is then read with 'de glòria' as 'the duration of his glory'. Less likely alternatives: 'deïtat' (deity) or a literal 'dart of love'.
- 4 ↩concordansa damor: rendered as "love's concordance" (harmony/agreement of love), personified as the object of the Friend's prayer, parallel to Saviea damor in the preceding section.
- 5 ↩Catalan desamar is rendered as unlove to keep Llull’s deliberate antonym of amar (love); stop loving / cease to love are near equivalents.
- 6 ↩fi d'amor rendered as 'the end of love' in the teleological sense (goal/purpose), not mere termination.
- 7 ↩Catalan 'egualar amor e amar' is rendered as bringing love and the act of loving into equality/proportion; Llull's technical sense is matching the measure of love with loving.
- 8 ↩Old Catalan 'con' read as temporal 'when' (quan); 'com' ('how'/'since') is also possible but fits the prayer request less well.
- 9 ↩'mostram' read as enclitic imperative 'mostra'm' ('show me'), matching the lover's petition to personified Wisdom.
