3. De pregueres d'amor
The Method of Prayers of Love
This chapter introduces a method for deriving prayers of love from the conditions and questions of love, and explains how to apply it using the likenesses of each condition and question.
To teach how one may know how to pray through love, we want in this way to draw out prayers of love from the conditions and questions of love, just as we have drawn out the questions from the conditions of love.1 Whoever wants to pray through love with the goodness and greatness of love should take the likeness of the first condition and question under the rubric of goodness and love; and whoever wants to pray through love of goodness and duration should go to the second condition and question under the rubric of goodness and duration, and make the prayer from their likenesses, and likewise with the others; and by this they will be able to have the art and method of finding many and varied orations and prayers of love; and of this we give teaching in the prayers that follow.2

Notes
- 1 ↩Reading 'enaxf' as Old Catalan 'enaxí' ('thus' / 'in this way'), as in the following section's 'enaxí'; an f/í confusion is a common medieval-type corruption.
- 2 ↩Catalan 'semblansa' is Llull's technical term for the pattern or likeness drawn from a condition/question; rendered as 'likeness' to keep that modeling sense rather than a looser 'example'.
