The Magi follow the divine star to find and worship the newborn King.
When the Magi saw the star that went before God, they followed its radiance; holding it like a lamp, they searched by its light for the mighty King. And when they reached the Unreachable One, they rejoiced and cried out to Him: Alleluia.1

Θεοδρόμον ἀστέρα, θεωρήσαντες Μάγοι, τῇ τούτου ἠκολούθησαν αἴγλῃ· καὶ ὡς λύχνον κρατοῦντες αὐτόν, δι' αὐτοῦ ἠρεύνων κραταιὸν Ἄνακτα, καὶ φθάσαντες τὸν ἄφθαστον, ἐχάρησαν αὐτῷ βοῶντες· Ἀλληλούια.

- 1 ↩θεοδρόμον is a dense compound: ‘God-running’ / ‘running the course of God.’ Rendered here as ‘the star that ran before God’ (the star whose path leads toward God), not as a mere descriptive adjective.
