The Proclamation of Deliverance
The city offers a prayer of thanksgiving to the Theotokos for her protection and pleads for continued deliverance.
To you, my invincible champion and commander, I, your city, offer these prizes of victory as a thanksgiving, O Theotokos, for I have been delivered from terrible dangers. But since you hold a power that no one can overcome, free me from every kind of danger, so that I may cry out to you: Hail, Bride unwedded.12
Notes
- 1 ↩Νύμφη ἀνύμφευτε is the fixed Marian title of the Akathist refrain; rendered as the traditional 'Bride unwedded' rather than paraphrased.
- 2 ↩ὑπερμάχῳ στρατηγῷ combines 'champion defender' (ὑπέρμαχος) with military command (στρατηγός); 'invincible champion and commander' keeps both senses without the archaic 'Champion Leader'.

Never lose the rhythm again
Chosen Portion delivers your morning, midday and night office to your phone — the Hours, without the bells.
Chosen Portion is a modern Book of Hours: it turns the fixed-hour structure this collection preserves into scheduled, tappable daily prayer on your phone.
- Three daily prayer moments scheduled around your real calendar, not a monastery's
- Psalms and historic prayers sequenced for you — no page-flipping or decision fatigue
- A visible streak of completed offices, so the rhythm compounds instead of collapsing
